Taylor Swift Reveals How She Felt About Being ‘Canceled’ After Kim Kardashian Feud
Taylor Swift opened up about how devasted she was following her feud with Kim Kardashian.
The "You Need to Calm Down" singer covers next month's issue of Vogue, in which she sits down for a very candid interview to talk about everything from her new album Lover to dealing with the aftermath of her infamous feud with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star. As most people will recall, Kardashian leaked video of Swift discussing the lyrics in Kanye West's song "Famous" on Twitter after she insisted she never agreed to them, which led to public shaming, as well as fans canceling her and labeling her a snake for months.
“I don’t think there are that many people who can actually understand what it’s like to have millions of people hate you very loudly," Swift explained. "When you say someone is canceled, it’s not a TV show."
"It’s a human being," the pop star continued. "You’re sending mass amounts of messaging to this person to either shut up, disappear, or it could also be perceived as, Kill yourself.”
However, she admitted this "very isolating experience” forced her to restructure her life.
"I realized I needed to restructure my life because it felt completely out of control,” Swift said. “I knew immediately I needed to make music about it because I knew it was the only way I could survive it. It was the only way I could preserve my mental health and also tell the story of what it’s like to go through something so humiliating.”
