What happens when you combine three really cool things? You get a great Saturday adventure.

Celebrating 150 years of railroading, the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad offers some fun weekend trips from their location in Unity. Just about every weekend from Memorial Day until October, they host fun events, and if you haven’t had the pleasure of a good train ride, this is right up your alley. It really is a treat to experience this.

On Saturday, July 31, from 11 a.m. they are planning the Pizza and Whoopie Pie Train Ride. Enjoy some pizza, and Maine’s number one dessert, the whoopie pie, a beverage, plus, a ride on the scenic Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad.

The previous ride on June 26 was a big success, so they have more scheduled throughout the summer months!

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children, admission is free for infants. And if you can’t make it on July 31, they will hit the tracks again for pizza & whoopie pie, on Saturday, August 28 at 11 a.m.

They also have other fun options like the Magic Train, with the amazing Stefano the Magician, on Saturday, September 11, and a Cider & Donuts Train Ride in November, where you can enjoy hot Apple Cider and freshly made donuts on a train ride that rolls you through the gorgeous views of the woods, streams, and fields of Waldo County.

While you are there, you can enjoy the day with ice cream at Conez, which is right where you board the train, or lunch at the fantastic Mammie’s Restaurant, which is directly across the road from the station.

The Belfast & Moosehead Railroad does ask that all unvaccinated people wear masks. All trains depart from Unity Station, in Unity, located at 212 Depot Street.
