Police have released the names of the five people injured in a single vehicle crash Saturday in Prospect.

The Waldo County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Michael Soteres of Bucksport was behind the wheel when it crashed. Also in the vehicle were 18-year-old Joshua Larrabee of Prospect, 20-year-old Joseph French of Ellsworth, 20-year-old Everett Dalton of Ellsworth, and 18-year-old Zachary Turcotte of Winterport.

They were traveling on Route 1 in Prospect just before 1:00 Saturday morning, when Soteres failed to negotiate a left sweeping turn near the end of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. All five were injured, although some more seriously than others. Police have not released the extent of their injuries, at this point.

The accident remains under investigation and speed and alcohol are considered likely factors in the crash. Joseph French was placed under arrest at the request of his probation officer, after being medically cleared, for committing a violation of his probation. Investigators say additional criminal charges are likely.
