State and local police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old girl from Wiscasset.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says an ambulance responded to the child's home at 19 Crickets Lane at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, after a 911 caller said she was unresponsive. Kendall Chick lived in the home with her grandfather, Stephen Hood, and his fiancee, Shawna Gatto.

Chick was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where she died shortly after her arrival. An autopsy was conducted over the weekend, but the results have not been released. Detectives have interviewed Hood and Gatto. Police continue to investigate the death of the girl who celebrated her 4th birthday just two weeks ago.
