Pentatonix Star Kirstin Makes Solo Debut: Listen to ‘Break a Little’
Kirstin Maldonado is breaking away from Pentatonix—but just a little.
The singer from the all-star a capella group unveiled her debut solo single on Friday, May 19. Featuring a thunderous beat and mildly tropical electronic production, "Break a Little" is an emotional pop anthem that captures the sadness that lingers after a failed relationship.
"I'm so proud of 'Break a Little,'" Maldonado shared in a statement, adding, "I always wanted to write a sad song that sounds happy. I think everyone can relate to this emotion. It’s about longing for something. You’re attracted to a vice or person you know you shouldn’t come back to, but you can’t help it."

"Break a Little" is the first taste of music from Kirstin's forthcoming debut EP, set to arrive this summer.
