The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a July 1 assault in Passadumkeag that was recorded and shared on social media.

A Thursday press release from the sheriff's office said the incident involved multiple people, and investigators are working to identify all of those individuals and bring them in for interviews. The release said some of the people involved in the assault have already been identified and interviewed, and those individuals have been coopering with the investigation.

The female victim, whose name was not released, has also been interviewed.

The release did not say what was shown in the video. Police said no further information on the incident will be released at this time.

Once the investigation is complete, the sheriff's office will work with the district attorney’s office to determine who will be charged and what those charges will be.
