Old Town Car Show and Fly-In Event to Benefit Maine Veterans Project In June
Dewitt Field - Old town Municipal Airport and Seaplane Base KOLD posted about an upcoming event they will be hosting in Old Town in June.
The event will be in its second year of doing a car show and fly-in event that they are calling 'The 2nd Annual Wings & Wheels Car Show & Fly-In'. All of this happening at Old Town's Dewitt Field.
The event will feature cars and vehicles of all kinds including 11 categories of vehicles that can compete in the car show, which include the following
- 1949 & Older
- 1950 to 1959
- 1960 to 1969
- 1970 to 1979
- 1980 and older
- Hot rod
- Muscle car
- Truck
- Jeep
- Foreign
- Motorcycle
For those interested in being part of the car show, registration goes from 8 AM to noon. Judging will take place with trophies being given out at 3 PM. Winners will receive a 'People's Choice' and 'Best of Show' title.
This event will have all proceeds go to the Maine Veterans Project, an organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of Maine's veterans. The focus of the efforts of this organization revolves around suicide prevention for Maine's veterans. The organization has various projects to provide for the needs of veterans in a variety of ways including retreat programs, home heating programs, and vehicle donation programs.
In addition to planes and great-looking vehicles, there will also be live music, food, vendors, and a swap meet for those that want to do some haggling and get some bargains. Sounds like a great time out on the airfield!
