An officer-involved shooting of two people followed a reported home invasion earlier in the day in East Machias.

The home invasion was reported to police Saturday. A woman said that a man had entered her apartment, shown a weapon, and demanded money before fleeing the scene. Police initially said they had a suspect but no arrests had been made.

Now, WABI-TV reports the Attorney General's office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened later that night in Machiasport. After the home invasion, an arrest warrant was issued for 33-year-old Jason Jackson of East Machias.

A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy and a Marine Patrol officer found Jackson at a Machiasport home. According to the AG's office, a confrontation resulted in both Jackson and an unidentified woman being shot and wounded by the Marine Patrol officer.

The officer, whose name has not been released, is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
