Yesterday, NEWS CENTER Maine's long-time anchor made an announcement that isn't a surprise but that did hit us in the feels a little bit.

In a genuine Cindy Williams delivery, the sweet reporter gave a quick 2-minute announcement of her getting ready to wrap up her career behind the ol' WCSH desk.

Cindy Williams has been a reporter at WCSH in Portland, Maine for several decades, starting her time with the station in 1989, according to Yanketv.com.

The pandemic has hit her pretty hard but, not all due to the virus. As she states in her video, she has had two spinal surgeries during the pandemic. She states in the video that the pandemic has made a lot of people "pause and reassess our lives," which sounds to be the catalyst for her decision to be done with journalism.

Cindy says she plans on retiring from the news business in December and wants to spend more time with her two sons, her husband and former NEWSCENTER journalist Lee Nelson, and focusing on real estate, something she's been doing for five years already, according to her video.

Her husband, Lee Nelson, retired recently himself. His retirement has led to a new career in fitness and modeling, which became big news here in the State of Maine due to some leaked photos of a buff and shirtless Lee.

We wish the best to Cindy as she gives up the day job to pursue other areas of interest, showing the rest of us one job/career can just be good for a long time but there are still more moments to enjoy in other ways once you're done.
