New Balance Employees Go to Hospital for Difficulty Breathing

First responders and hazmat teams are in Skowhegan after an incident at the New Balance Factory.

Five people have been sent to the hospital and 20 others are waiting on a bus. They will remain on the bus until the hazmat teams can determine what substance caused the employees to experience trouble breathing and burning eyes. Skowhegan Fire Captain Ty Strout told News Center that they think the incident started on the 4th floor. Officials say upwards of 30+ people were exposed.

Hazmat crews will remain on the scene until the issue is resolved.
