Maine State Prison officials on Friday confirmed the death of a convicted murder serving a life sentence for murder.

Ashton Moores, 70, of Bangor died at approximately 9:57 p.m., June 28, according to a news release from the prison.

Consistent with the Department’s policy and Attorney General’s Office protocols, the State Police and Medical Examiner were notified.

In 2009, Moores was convicted of raping and murdering Christina Siminon in Bangor in March 2007. Videotape showed him using the wheelbarrow to dispose of the victim’s body. Her body later was found by two teenagers.
