Fire officials say a man is dead following a house fire in the town of Poland.

A 911 call to the Lewiston/Auburn Emergency Communications Center, just after 7:30 Saturday morning, reported a house fire at 172 Tiger Hill Road. Once firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, they found the body of an adult male inside the home. Officials believe it to be the man who lived there, 65-year-old Michael Murphy. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta, where an autopsy will confirm his identity and determine cause of death.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Responding to the fire were the Poland, Oxford, and Mechanic Falls Fire Departments, as well as the Mechanic Falls Police Department and the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
