Bangor Police say a man faces multiple charges after a street fight that started when he was denied access to a local bar.

Sergeant Wade Betters said in a media release that police responded at around 1 a.m. Thursday to a report of several people fighting in the middle of the road on Main Street, near downtown.

Investigators say the trouble started when Alexander Coronado, 26, of Manchester, New Hampshire was denied entry into the bar because he didn't have any identification. The other people in his party asked him to watch their vehicle while they went into the bar.

But when the group returned to the parking spot, they discovered that the vehicle was missing. Police say it was just a short time later when the allegedly saw Coronado driving it down Main Street. They told police they yelled for him to stop and, when he eventually did, they all got into a heated argument. Coronado is accused of backing the vehicle into one of the people involved before getting out of the vehicle and starting to fight with the group. At this point, police officers arrived and broke up the fight.

The person struck by the vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment and Coronado was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail. He's been charged with assault, elevated aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and with operating without a license.
