A Tourist Couple Goes In Search Of Maine’s Best Lobster Roll
People come from all over the world to try Maine Lobster Rolls!
An adorable couple named Matt & Rachel have a fun YouTube Channel, where they travel the United States, sampling some of the best food in the country, and posting videos of their adventures.
No trip to the State of Maine is complete, without sampling our legendary lobster rolls, so it was the perfect excuse for the pair to visit the 207.
It's pretty amazing that people from all over the world clamor for something we probably take for granted, because we live here. And in fairness to places in the Bangor area, there are a ton of establishments in Maine that offer this tasty Maine treat, and the duo hit five of the best in the state.
The first stop was at the legendary Taste of Maine Restaurant. They have been serving up delicious seafood since 1978. They have a few claims to fame, one being a giant inflatable lobster that sits on top of the roof and covers about 75% of it, and the other is their claim that they serve "The World’s Largest Lobster Roll."
They also serve up a pretty rad Whoopie Pie, and a celebrity or two has been known to stop by.
Stop number two was at Red's Eats. A family-run business, the self-proclaimed "Home of Maine's #1 Lobster Roll" Red's Eats has been serving up killer food since 1938, but they do a whole lot more than lobster rolls.
In fact, they have over 70 other fresh selections on the menu, including a red snapper hot dog that will make you weak in the knees.
Warning: They are always busy, and sometimes the line to order can get pretty deep, so be prepared to wait.
Number 3 was Five Islands Lobster Co. which is perched on an active fishing wharf, on the edge of Sheepscot Bay, in Georgetown, Maine. Rumor has it that they have the most delicious and sought-after lobsters in all of New England.
Lobster roll number 4, was at the legendary, McLoon's Lobster Shack, at 315 Island Rd, in South Thomaston. This gorgeous Wooden shack is famous for freshly landed lobster that looks out onto the water where they were caught.
And finally, the hit Eventide Oyster Co, , a popular seafood restaurant located in Portland, at 86 Middle Street, and is known for fresh oysters and other delectable seafood dishes. There is also a second location near Fenway Park. Yes, they are THAT good.
Over the years, they have received numerous awards and accolades over the years, including being named one of the best seafood restaurants in the country by Bon Appetit magazine.
Some tough choices, but find out what Matt & Rachel ultimately chose as the best of the best.
If you plan to travel the state this summer, any of these places will give you an excellent lobster roll experience to enjoy.
