Mainers will be totally blown away by the state ranked at number one on this list!

The 2020 “States With The Best And Worst Drivers” list is here and New England is well represented. 5 out of the 6 New England States made it. Shame on you, Rhode Island, shame on you.

The survey is from a financial advisor website called SmartAsset. How did they rank the participants? Four categories were observed: The number of uninsured drivers, driving under the influence arrests, fatalities, and speeding tickets.

While we lovingly refer to them as “Massholes” each and every time that we visit there, or they grace us with their presence in the 207, the state of Massachusetts came in at number one. This is a shocking turn of events to us here in the state of Maine, but we made the list too. However, don't be surprised if you get harassed by your friends from The Bay State, because they enjoy lording these things over us. Oh well, there's always next year.

In their findings, Mississippi ranks as the absolute worst for the third straight year. Massachusetts was the the king of the hill. Though we would certainly disagree, especially if you have ever been behind the wheel in Boston, they did well in every category, including having the fewest fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven.

Here is the Top 10
1.Massachusetts
2. Utah
3. Nebraska
4. Vermont
5. Maine
6. New York
7. Connecticut
8. Ohio
9. Kansas
10. New Hampshire

Now for the infamous Bottom 10
1.Mississippi
2.Nevada
3.Tennessee
4.Florida
5.California
6.Arizona
7.(Tie)South Carolina
7.Texas
9.New Mexico
10.Alaska

Just remember to always drive safely when you are behind the wheel. Here are some examples of some really crappy driving in both Maine and Mass!
