Maine Breaks Record For New COVID-19 Cases Per Day

According to the the Maine CDC's Thursday update, the cumulative number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Maine is now at 6,467, an increase of 80 since Wednesday and the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases reported by the Maine CDC since May 20. 5,740 of those cases are confirmed while 718 are deemed probable.

Over the past five days, the Maine CDC has reported 330 new cases of COVID-19 with Maine's positivity rate increasing from 0.42% two weeks ago, to 0.8% percent today.

There were no new deaths reported of an individual with COVID-19 for the 12th day in a row, keeping the total at 146. 483 patients have had to be hospitalized at some point. 15 are currently hospitalized with 5 in intensive care and 2 on a ventilator.

5,462 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered, an increase of 21 since Wednesday. The total number of diagnosed active cases of COVID-19 is 859, the highest number of active cases in Maine since the pandemic began.

Governor Mills has extended the State of Emergency in Maine through November 27, allowing Maine to continue to receive federal funding and use available resources to respond to COVID-19.

An executive order remains in place requiring large retail stores, lodging, restaurants, outdoor bars and tasting rooms to enforce the state's face covering requirement.
