Maine is one of nine states to have more people move to the state than move out of the state due to the pandemic.

HireAHelper, a website that shares moving service providers with consumers , took a look at which states saw more movement into the state than out of the state.   BusinessInsider.com is reporting on the study information, concluding that the Pine Tree State made the top 5 of the list of nine.

The state with the largest gain was Idaho, which saw the largest increase where 194% more people transitioned to the state than out of the state.

Where did people move away from? New York and California, two of the four most populated states in the nation.

HireAHelper also noted that in a poll of 1,350 people nationwide, 15% moved in the first half of 2020 due to the pandemic. Reasoning included unable to afford housing due to job loss or to quarantine closer to the homes of friends and family.
