Sometimes, I think my wife and I are a little more sad than the rest of the world because we don't have any pets. Between her allergies, my basic level of irresponsibility, and both of us being immersed in our careers, it's just never really been in the cards. We both love animals, and hopefully someday will get to enjoy them.

That said, you'd have to be a heartless ogre not to be upset when you scroll through your Facebook feed, and find out one of your friends had a beloved pet run away. I always share the post, and kind of reflect for a minute to decide if I can do anything further.

Now, thanks to the wonders of Facebook, there are two pages you should know about if you have pets. Lost and Found Cats of Maine and Lost Dog Maine. Especially if your cute fuzz-wuzzes are the kind who like to run away. You're land tortoise you've had since high school doesn't need his own special Facebook page, but Fido just might.

You can post photos and important information about your furry family member, as well as contact information in case someone can point you in the right direction. With the power of the internet behind you, you greatly increase the chances of finding your kitty-kat or doggo. There's also other links and sources for getting the word out within each page.

Nobody ever wants to be without their special friend, and now for a change, Facebook has totally got your back.
