Sometimes it's good to have a little reminder of ice safety here in Maine, especially since we're hovering around the freezing mark and we're seeing ice develop on our lakes.

The Maine Fire and Rescue Facebook page shared a great graphic that I wanted to pass along to you showing you what thickness of ice is safe for what kind of weight.  It's really impressive how much weight ice can hold but it DOES have a limit.

The graphic explains what ice thickness is safe for walking and riding over, depending on the weight of you, a snowmobile or a large truck.
