Everyone thinks they have the best pet in the world.

I get it. It is YOUR pet. Of course you think he or she is the cutest, most gentle, goofiest, etc. But they're not (let's be honest). You just love them as your child. Trust me, I have two at home, and I think they're better than everyone else's too.

But there are contests to determine who has the best pet in the world, and one of those contests is going on right now with Pet Partner's Pet of the Year.

Forest, a Great Dane from Maine, is now a finalist in the contest.

Pet Partner's mission is simple, according to their website:

Pet Partners’ mission is to improve human health and well-being through the human-animal bond. As a leader in the field, Pet Partners is continuously evolving to meet the diverse needs of global communities, with innovative programming, activities, and educational opportunities that are centered around the human-animal bond. Humans and animals share a deep, innate connection, and we believe that through the human-animal bond we can improve the physical, social, and emotional lives of more people and communities.

According to the Pet Partners website and Forest's profile, Forest is a therapy dog who has completed over 300 visits to numerous facilities.

Written by owners Sarah Buckley and Tina Buckley:

Forest has shared his calm demeanors with cancer patients, members of the military, children in schools and patients and staff at two hospitals. It never ceases to amaze me how Forest knows when someone needs a little extra attention from him. Doing Pet Therapy visits with Forest is one of the greatest joys of my life. I hope that we can continue for more years to come!
