The Bush family has had ties to Maine since the late 19th century, when George H.W. Bush's great-grandfather bought Walker's Point in Kennebunkport in the late 19th century and built the family mansion there in 1902.

It has been owned by several generations of the Bush family throughout the years, and has served as their summer home. It was often referred to as the summer White House when both George Sr and Jr would host dignitaries and White House staff there.

George W. Bush's children, Jenna and Barbara, spent lots of time here in Maine growing up. Recently, the Bush twins visited the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and talked about their grandmother's legacy in a segment on Today.

They have also written a new book called Love Comes First, and it is available on Amazon and other booksellers. Amazon's listing explains the book written by the two sisters for children ages four to eight:

As two sisters watch their friends’ families grow, they wish on a star for a sibling of their own…and a younger brother and a baby cousin arrive! The new family members aren’t exactly what the sisters expected, but with time and patience, the group soon becomes fabulously four—and lets their imaginations soar! Together they can be anything, and no matter what, they will always remember that love comes first.

This is the Bush's fourth writing collaboration after Sister's First, a memoir and biography covering their time growing up in the White House which is also printed as a children's book. The Superpower Sisterhood was their second book.

Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush will be at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library in Kennebunkport to sign copies of Love Comes First on Saturday, December 9, at 10 a.m.

Copies of the book will be available for sale, but the event is free and open to the public. However, you must pre-register by calling 207-967-2778.
