Michael Chitwood was Portland's Chief of Police for 17 years before taking a job as police superintendent of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, near where he grew up.

Over those 17 years, he made a big impact on Portland and became well-known across the state as he wasn't shy about speaking to the media, which earned him the nickname of Media Mike.

He retired from police work after 55 years in law enforcement.

Chitwood had a no-nonsense method of policing, dealing with issues head-on, a trait that his son uses as well as the Sheriff of Volusia County, Florida. Chtiwood's son is Michael Chitwood Jr. and he's been in law enforcement for over 30 years. Like his dad before him, Sheriff Chitwood takes action, sometimes controversial, to resolve issues.

He has recently gone viral, appearing on news stations across the country, showing how he is dealing with bogus school threats called in by students. Chitwood has a message for those students' parents: "If you don't want to raise your kids, I'm going to start raising them."

Chitwood is arresting students who make bogus school threat calls and shaming them to send a message to the community that it will not be tolerated.

Most parents have responded positively to Chitwood's police, but the ones who are the parents of the students making the threats, not so much.

You can easily tell that Mike Chitwood Jr. is an apple that didn't fall far from the tree. I think his method of dealing with the problem is perfect. What do you think?
