Maine’s Stephen King’s 13 Best Movies According to Rotten Tomatoes

If you're a fan of Maine native Stephen King's works, there's a lot of material out there to consume.

You've got novels, short stories, television series, and the occasional poem in a Playboy magazine. Plus, there's always new stuff on the horizon for you to get excited about.

Then there are the movie adaptations, which even the biggest fans of King would argue have been hit or miss. Even King dislikes one of the most famous movie versions of his books, "The Shining," so you just can't win 'em all.

But thanks to the popular Rotten Tomatoes website, we can take a look at how the films based on his works are rated per the critics. In fact, there are 50+ Stephen King movies out there, according to the author's own website, but, based on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer scoring system, about 20 of them have the "Fresh" rating.

That means anything 60 percent and above. Anything below that number is considered "Rotten."

Not all of Stephen King's best-reviewed movies are horror. "Stand by Me," "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" make the top 13 list, and you might not have even known those were King works.

There are many instances of Stephen King's works being adapted multiple times like "The Shining," "It," "Firestarter," and "Pet Semetary" to name a few. That's not likely to stop anytime soon either.
