Fire Marshal Says No Foul Play Involved In Fire At Maine Turnpike Garage
The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office says it's not sure what caused a massive fire at a Maine Turnpike Authority garage in Auburn over the weekend, but it's not believed to be the result of foul play.
Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the call came into dispatchers just before 6 PM on Sunday, February 2nd.
"...A 911 call was placed reporting a fire at the Maine Turnpike Authority garage located off the side of I-95 and Hackett Road in Auburn. Upon arrival, the Auburn Fire Department found the 6-bay garage fully involved. "
Moss says the building and everything in it were destroyed.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal, assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, spent the next day investigating the scene, trying to determine what may have caused the blaze.
The Maine Fuel Board and the Auburn Fire Department assisted them.
When all was said and done, the State Fire Marshal classified the fire as "undetermined" citing several accidental causes that may have played a hand in the fire.
Thankfully, no one was injured in Sunday's incident.
