Want To Ice Skate Outside? Check Out These Outdoor Rinks Just Outside Of Bangor
Ice skating is one of those winter-in-Maine pastimes that so many people seem to really enjoy. While there are plenty of places to skate indoors, there's something special about hitting the ice outside. Did you know there are a couple of close-by ice rinks, if you're in the greater Bangor area, that won't cost you a dime to spend time on?
Folks in Glenburn were able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors for a bit this past weekend, as the community came together to check out the new outdoor ice rink in town.

According to the Glenburn Parks and Rec Department's Facebook Page, they had an excellent turnout with food trucks, smores kits, a fire pit, and of course, ice skating.
If you're looking for the rink, it's located by the Glenburn Town Office on Lakeview Landing. The ice lies right on top of the basketball courts, so it's nice and flat.
According to the Parks and Rec Department, people can use the ice from sun up to sun down, and it does not require supervision.
You can find out more about the new rink, and all the other upcoming programs the Glenburn Parks and Rec Department is getting up to, but clicking on the Town's website, here.
Not too far down the road from Glenburn, in Orono, their Parks and Rec Department says the Orono Municipal Ice Rink is open and ready to go!
It's located just behind Orono High School and you can park right at the high school and walk over.
"As always the rink is free to use and regular hours are 11 am-9 pm on weekdays and 9 am-9 pm on the weekends."
You can check out more details on the Town Of Orono website, here.
While ice conditions at both rinks will be monitored by the Parks and Rec Staff of both towns, skating at the rinks is at your own risk.
