Another illegal pot-growing operation has been shut down. It happened Thursday morning in the town of Holden.

According to the Holden Police Department, a search warrant was executed on a home on Winters Road at about 8:30 AM.

"The warrant was part of an on-going active investigation into an illegal Chinese marijuana growing. No arrests were made; however, evidence was seized. This investigation continues to demonstrate the dangerous conditions and illegal actions occurring in these residential homes."

Lt. Andrew Whitehouse says authorities believe that the operation in Holden is connected to a number of similar operations, like the one discovered last month in Eddington, that have been popping up around the state of Maine.

"We seized over 120lbs of processed marijuana about $50,000 street value. There was evidence of 1600 plus plants that were recently cultivated."

Authorities with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Office of Cannabis Policy assisted Holden Police with the case.

Holden Police say no more information will be released regarding this case, at the moment.
