Bucksport PD Warn Drivers To Behave As They Recently Clocked A Motorcycle Going 100 MPH In A 40 MPH Zone
The Bucksport Police Department has a warning for drivers who speed and put themselves or others in danger: Stop. Or you will pay the price. And it won't be cheap!
They recently put out a Facebook post recalling a incident of extreme speeding, and letting folks know that cops in Bucksport are on the lookout for those who go faster than the posted limits... and will be handing out tickets which could lead to hefty fines or even jail time.

"Yesterday, while on routine patrol, Officer Robert Findlay observed a motorcycle traveling north on Rt. 46 at a high rate of speed. Officer Findlay observed the motorcycle’s speed on radar at 100mph in a posted 40mph zone... Officer Findlay conducted a traffic stop and charged the 28-year-old operator with exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 30mph (Title 29A Section 2074-3). He was also cited for failure to produce valid and current insurance."
If you're wondering just what kind of fine you're looking at if you do happen to speed, it would be anywhere from $114 for going 1-9 miles over the limit, to $278 if you are caught at a speed in excess of 25-29 miles too fast.
For those, like the biker they mentioned, who speed over 30 mph faster than the legal limit, they could face jail time up to 6 months, a $1000 fine and a suspension of their license for charges of criminal speeding. Those charges can also have implications further down the road putting at risk things like obtaining car insurance, or getting a job which requires you to drive.
