Four people in Aroostook County have been arrested following what authorities say is a significant drug bust.

Commander Brandon Vafiades from the Maine Department of Public Safety and Drug Enforcement Agency says MDEA agents in Aroostook County have been looking into suspected drug trafficking activity in the town of Caswell. He says one spot in particular, a residence on the Van Buren Road, has been on their radar for some time. Tuesday morning, agents executed a search warrant at 1057 Van Buren Rd. and discovered hundreds of thousands of dollars of drugs, Commander Vafiades says.

"Agents seized over 2 pounds of fentanyl, over a pound of methamphetamine, and over $19,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $200,000. As a result of the search four individuals were arrested and charged with Class A Unlawful Trafficking Fentanyl & Methamphetamine."

47-year-old Andrew McHatten of Caswell was arrested, as were 27-year-old Whilo Recio and 28-year-old Ramon Recio, both from Massachusetts and 35-year-old Diomedes Del Rosario Cotreras, who is from the Dominican Republic.

All were taken to the Aroostook County jail, where bail was set for $150,000 cash.
