The body of a Massachusetts man was recovered after he went missing near Cape Neddick, Maine.
Massachusetts Man's Body Recovered After His Boat Was Found Overturned
Chester Benjamin Wiggins, 84, of Bedford, Massachusetts, was recovered from the waters near York, Maine, at approximately 1:30 pm on Friday.
The Maine Marine Patrol says Mr. Wiggins was reported missing on Wednesday when a resident found his 17-foot Boston Whaler on the shore near Nubble Light.
Maine Search for Missing Massachusetts Man Complicated by High Seas
The U.S. Coast Guard and state agencies conducted a land and water search on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Thursday and Friday, the Maine Marine Patrol and York first responders continued the search, despite high seas.
York Police used drones to aid in the search.
Massachusetts Man's Body Recovered from the Water Off the Coast of Maine
A witness discovered Mr. Wiggins' body at approximately 1:30 Friday afternoon about 150 feet from shore, off Ocean Avenue Extension in York.
His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
This incident remains under investigation.
