Vehicle Crashes in Carroll and Dixmont claimed one life and seriously injured a woman and two children.

A Driver Was Killed When Their Vehicle Entered the Water

The Carroll crash was reported to the Penobscot Regional Communications Center at around 9:30 Friday night. Callers said a vehicle had run off the roadway and was in a body of water in the area of 2445 Main Road in Carroll. According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, they also reported one deceased person inside the vehicle and no passengers. Officials say passersby who stopped to help made several attempts to assist the driver and provide medical aid, to no avail.

Officials Have Not Released the Name of the Carroll Crash Victim

The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. This crash remains under investigation.

3 People Were Hospitalized After a Crash in Dixmont

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:00, the Penobscot Regional Communications Center learned of a single-vehicle crash on the Moosehead Trail Road in Dixmont. Deputies responded to the scene and found a vehicle that had crossed the oncoming traffic lane and continued off the roadway, where it struck several trees. The adult female driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue workers. Once she was out, she was flown to a local hospital via Life Flight with serious injuries. There were also two young children in the vehicle, who both sustained serious injuries. They were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The names of the woman and the children have not been released. Officials continue to investigate what caused the crash.
