Two men are facing drug charges after sheriff's deputies seized over six pounds of cocaine and thousands of dollars in suspected drug proceeds.

What Was Seized in the Bust?

The incident began as a traffic stop in Farmingdale. A Deputy with the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle on Maine Avenue Friday night. The reason for the stop has not been released but the deputy found sufficient reason to search the vehicle.

During that search, they allegedly found 6.5 pounds of cocaine, nearly 10 ounces of fentanyl or suspected fentanyl, and 14 grams of methamphetamine. WMTW-TV reports officials also seized more than $23,000 in cash from the vehicle.

Who Was Arrested?

Two people who were in the vehicle were arrested:

  • David N. Maldonado, 29, from New York is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and violation of conditional release.
  • Gene Northrup, 58, of Maine is charged with unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine and unlawful possession of cocaine.
