Police are investigating after a body was found on the bank of the Aroostook River.

The Body Was Found on Tuesday Afternoon

Caribou Police and the Maine State Police are investigating the discovery of a body on Tuesday. An area was cordoned by the police after the body was found at approximately 1:00 in the afternoon. Officials have not commented on how the person's remains were found.

Officials Say the Deceased is Male

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the deceased is male, but his name has not been released, at this time. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be conducted to attempt to determine the man's identity and the cause and manner of his death.
