
Bangor, Maine Man Allegedly Threatened to Burn Woman’s Car and Dog
Bangor Police have arrested a man for threatening a woman's vehicle and her dog.

David Viera, 45, a transient, is facing domestic violence charges for an incident that happened early Tuesday morning, June 9, 2026.
Bangor Police say a woman and her dog ran into the lobby of the police station at approximately 3:55 am and told authorities they were being chased by a man.

Once the female and dog were safe inside the building, officers entered the lobby as a man, later identified as Vieira, came in behind her.
Officer Emily Konopka intercepted the man and ordered him to exit the lobby.

Once the pair was separated, officers interviewed both the man and woman to learn what was going on.
The woman, whose name has not been released, told investigators that Vieira had allegedly poured gasoline over her vehicle, where the two had been living and was threatening to light it on fire, with the dog inside.
She said she was able to free the dog and escape before Vieira was able to light the gasoline with the lighter.
Bangor, Maine, Man Faces Domestic Charge After Cops Find Car Doused in Gas
Police officers located the vehicle and found a gas can and evidence that gasoline had been poured over the vehicle, as well as a lighter on Vieira's person.
As a result, he's been charged with domestic violence criminal threatening.
Vieira was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
