This Black Sand Beach on an Androscoggin Lake Island Is a Maine Summer Must-Visit

There are a lot of great places to spend a summer day in Maine, but Black Sand Beach on Androscoggin Lake has to be one of the coolest. The only way to get there is by boat, which honestly makes it even better. Once you pull up to the beach, you'll see why so many people keep coming back year after year.

It's Easy to Spend the Entire Day There

This isn't one of those places where you stop for 20 minutes and leave. Most people pull their boat up, throw out an anchor, and spend the day swimming, relaxing on the beach, or just hanging out with friends and family. If you don't want to head home when the sun goes down, you can even camp overnight on Norris Island, where Black Sand Beach is located.

Don't Forget the Rope Swings

One of my favorite things about Black Sand Beach has to be the rope swings. If you've ever been there, you know they're hard to resist. Between the rope swings, swimming, and the unique black sand, it's the kind of place that reminds you what summer in Maine is all about.

If you're lucky enough to have a boat, or know someone who does, this is definitely a spot worth checking out at least once. Chances are that it won't be your last visit.
