Searsport has already started celebrating their 175th anniversary last year but, you know, COVID-19 happened.

But, this year, things are working out to really start the celebration with an upcoming week filled with fun things to do and enjoy in the maritime town.  coming soon, will be a weeks worth of celebrating that will continue through the month of July.

Events have been finalized for their anniversary celebration starting Thursday, July 1st which includes a show by Tim Sample, local musicians, art shows, lots of food, a parade and fun community gathering.

July 1st - 6th is going to be a week filled with a lot of celebration for Searsport! There is also some happenings later in July for the town which will include a movie at Mosman Park, fireworks and boat races.

Here's what's on the docket for Searsport's upcoming July celebrations:

Thursday, July 1st

5PM - 8PM "Ripped from the Headlines" - Penobscot Marine Museum Celebrating Searport's rich Maritime tradition, volunteers will bring local history to life, dramatic readings or reenacting newspaper stories of bravery, courage, daring rescues, and other adventures on the high seas! Tickets are $20 per family up to 10 people. Purchase tickets online

Friday, July 2nd

10 AM Walking Tour with Charlene Knox Farris starting in front of the Congregational Church on Church Street

12:20 - 2 PM Free ice cream at Safe Harbor church. The church will be open for tours.

3:30 PM - 6 PM Concert at the Penobscot Marine Museum's Crescent Park of the Belfast Bay Fiddlers. Don't forget your lawn chairs!

7 PM Tim Sample at the high school gym

Saturday, July 3rd

7:30 AM Row boat races at Hamilton Wharf

9 AM - 11 AM Community activities at Memorial Park by the Methodist Church including craft and food booths and cornhole games

10 AM Lobster rolls on the Methodist Church lawn put on by the American Legion

11 AM Parade starting at Norris Street and heading to Mortland Road

Noon - 4PM Art Show at Mermaid Plaza

1 PM - 3 PM Poker Run to start in front of the fountain in Memorial Park on Route 1 put on by the Historic Preservation Committee

3 PM - 4:30 Pm concert at Mermaid Plaza by Local Fiddler's Group. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs!

5 PM Supper

7 PM Variety Show at Union Hall put on by the Searsport Historical Society. This show will be dedicated to the memory of Phil Wolley with appreciation, smiles and love.

Sunday, July 4th

Noon to 4 PM Art Show at Mermaid Plaza

1 PM Concert at the Mermaid Plaza featuring Terrin Connor. Don't forget your lawn chairs!

2 PM - 3:30 PM Clamming demonstration and Green Crab Hunt at Sears Island put on by Shellfish Committee. Adults please accompany the kiddos.

3 PM Concert at Mermaid Plaza by Saxophone Quartet. Don't forget your lawn chairs!

5 PM Vendors in Mosman Park

6 PM - 9 PM Concert in Mosman Park by Jump City Social Club. Don't forget your lawn chairs!

Tuesday, July 6th

6 PM Concert at Mosman Park featuring the Maine Army 195 band. Don't forget your lawn chairs.

Sunday, July 18th - begins Schooner Gam

Afternoon UMaine 3D Patrol Boat at Mosman Park

5 PM Food venders and picnics in the park at Mosman Park

7 PM - 8:30 PM Concert at Mosman Park featuring PanStorm, a steel drum band

8:45 PM Movie screening at Mosman Park about maritime history on the sails

9 PM Fireworks at Mosman Park

Monday, July 19th - ends Schooner Gam
