It's been a few months now since Downtown Bangor's newest market, The Salty Brick, quietly opened its doors to the public. And now that they've settled, owner James Gallagher (of Bangin’ Whoopie fame--yup, he owns that, too) has decided it's time to do a proper "grand opening" and ribbon cutting.

Offering folks downtown the essentials, like milk, eggs, bread, and of course beer, The Salty Brick has been making quite the name for itself. It's an alternative to hoofing it all the way to a big grocery store for those quick grab-and-go items, one might need during the course of a day.

Executive Director Betsy Lundy says, “Salty Brick has already filled a hole in the downtown mix by bringing both necessities and life’s little extras within walking distance of Downtown Bangor’s 3000 residents and 6000 employees. From the moment they opened their doors there has been a constant stream of people out the door with salad from the salad bar in hand or a bag of groceries. Residents are happy to have necessities like toilet paper readily accessible."

The ribbon cutting will take place at 4 PM just outside of the entrance at 35 Main Street in Bangor, with the grand opening festivities that will follow right after and going until 8 PM.

And Gallagher's offering some sweet treats to entice you to stop by. There will be a Beer & Wine tasting, some deli offerings, some door prizes, and a free Bangin Whoopie Pie!
