Good, bad, or indifferent, it's that time of year again.

I doubt I'm the only one that feels this way, but if there's one thing I generally hate about voting, other than the obvious political bull cookies, it's having to go stand in line to vote. Over the years it's gotten better with all the early voting, etc... But it's something none of us should ever ignore.

The last few elections have made how people vote such a hot button. Interestingly, no one seems to be complaining about that sort of thing this election cycle, so far. But if there's one thing I can't wait for, it's an absentee ballot. Filling it out in my kitchen is way better than standing behind some little curtain that smells like the Marlboro fart of the person that voted before I got in there.

How do you get one of those sweet, lazy ballots?

Well, if you've used one before, a lot of times you end up getting one in the mail automatically. But if you never have, or you moved, or whatever, you can request one from the state, and it's super easy to do. It literally takes longer to choose your votes than it does request the ballot.

All you have to do is head over to the State of Maine website and fill out the quick form. In no time, that little envelope will show up in your mailbox. In years past, I've gotten the ballot in the mail, filled out pretty much on the spot, and popped it right back in the mail. It's pretty much that easy. Even with all the ranked choice stuff, it's pretty simple. Plus, there's a lot of info here as well, about the process.

Voting is one of the best parts of being an American. That, and of course not being thrown in jail for saying mean things against the government. Then we'd all have been thrown in jail at some point. Amirite?! But seriously, do your part and vote. And with the absentee ballot, this may your only option to vote in your underwear, holding a beer.
