Full Moon Hike Planned At Maine Wildlife Refuge This Month
If you want to take a nighttime adventure with the full moon overhead and the quiet woods of Maine surrounding you, then you'll be all about this event happening in Old Town on January 16.
Old Town's Hirundo Wildlife Refuge has some of the most unique sights to offer in the Bangor area and now you get the opportunity to experience it at night with a walk through the park in the light of the full moon, Sunday, January 16. The hike is scheduled to start at 6:15 PM with the plan to meet at Gate 1 to soak in the light of the full moon.
According to NASA, our next full moon will reach its peak Monday, January 17 at 6:48 PM.
An event on Facebook has been set up, hosted by Hirundo Wildlife Refuge. The event is called 'Full Moon Hike' and it looks like a lot of people are interested in this unique experience.
Hikers will meet at 6:15 PM at Gate 1. Cocoa and a sweet will end the hike around a campfire. There's even mention of a little wine for those old enough to partake and carry in their ID. It is recommended to dress warmly and to bring a flashlight.
Hirundo has over seven miles of hiking trails along with many other warmer season things to try out when the temperatures rise, like paddling streams and wetland areas.
