A plastic bottle with a note inside was tossed into the Atlantic by a young boy in southern Maine many years ago, and it was recently found by a young girl on a island in Scotland.

The story published in the Gloucester Daily Times tells how back in 1998 a 13-year-old boy named Matt from Massachusetts who was vacationing with his family in Wells, Maine, wrote a short note on a lined piece of paper, stuffed it into a plastic bottle, and then tossed it from the beach and into the Atlantic.

Then, almost 3,000 miles and 21 years later, it was found washed ashore by a young girl named Lily who was on a family trip on the Scottish island of North Uist

How cool is that?
