This month, you can get the kiddos ready for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, in Bangor, Newport & Ellsworth!

It seems a little crazy to talk about now since summer just started, but before you know it, another school year will be back in session, so get a jump on getting your kids ready, with a free giveaway, on Sunday, July 27th.

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the folks at Wireless Zone, 570 Stillwater Avenue in Bangor, are hosting the 13th Annual "School Rocks" Backpack Giveaway. Bring the kids and grab a free backpack, that will also be filled up with school supplies for your child.

On average, American families spend about $875 on school supplies each year. 1 in 6 school-aged children live in poverty. on school supplies each year. .

This year, over 1,000 Verizon locations are participating in this event, and they hope to give away over 150,000 backpacks to school kids all over the United States, including the Stillwater Avenue location right here in Bangor.

In the 12 previous years, they have given away over 1.4 million backpacks across the United States.

This offer is good while supplies last, with a limit of one backpack per child. It is a first come, first serve event!
