A home on the Kennebec Road in Hampden was consumed by fire, leaving one person dead.

Officials with the State Fire Marshal's Office say the deceased person is believed to be 71-year-old Paul Spaulding, who lived alone at the residence. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the fire at 59 Kennebec Road was reported at approximately 10:30 PM Monday.

The home was devastated by the fire and the victim's body was found inside. His remains have been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be conducted Tuesday afternoon to confirm the man's identity.
