The family of Enoch McGovern, who was injured when his mother stepped in front of a truck, says they need to focus on his recovery.

While they're not agreeing to interviews, Enoch's family did release a statement yesterday, through Eastern Maine Medical Center, where the 2-year-old is currently recovering. They thank the Maine community for the outpouring of support for their "sweet boy and entire family." "Enoch has received many gifts over the past week, much more than any child could ever imagine, and for this we are eternally grateful."

Now, they ask that any future donations of toys be given to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program in Enoch's name, so that they will benefit other children in need. Donations can be sent to the Salvation Army, 65 South Park Street, Bangor, ME 04401.

The statement says that Enoch continues to improve and that the family now needs to focus their attention on his recovery, ensuring that he continues to have a healing environment. During this time, the family is asking for space and privacy.

In time, the statement says, the family will let Enoch know the "breadth and depth of your support and love." Anyone wishing to make a financial contribution can still do so through a GoFundMe page.
