Much of the state is bracing for some wintry weather tonight, and the National Weather Service says we should all be ready to be cautious on the roadways this weekend.

If you're planning to head out to do some holiday errands, and you live in the areas of Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, or Aroostook Counties, you'll definitely want to take it slow if you have to go out Saturday.

The southern part of the state has been put on alert, too.

The National Weather Service is saying they're in for some tricky weather as well.

For Waldo, Knox, and Kennebec Counties, the Winter Weather Advisory starts a little earlier.

From 5 AM till 2 PM, folks in those areas of the state can expect

"Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations less than one inch and ice accumulations around two-tenths of an inch. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury."

For most of us, this is not our first rodeo, so let's make sure we act accordingly.

Go slow. Keep your eyes on the road. Use caution. And stay safe.
