East Machias Mother and Son Among 4 Arrested for Drug Trafficking
A mother and son from East Machias have been arrested, along with two residents of New York, for drug trafficking in Washington County.
Where Was the Drug Bust?
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says it was 6:30 Wednesday morning when Maine Drug Enforcement agents, assisted by the Maine State Police Tactical Team, executed a search warrant on a Jacksonville Road home in East Machias. The warrant was granted as the result of a joint investigation with the Washington County Sheriff's Office that included undercover purchases of drugs from people in the home. This is one of a series of investigations being conducted by the Sheriff's Office that is targeting drug trafficking operations in the county.
What Was Seized in the Search?
Seized during that search were approximately 2.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 78 grams of suspected crack cocaine, as well as approximately $2,455 in suspected drug proceeds. Officials say the street value of the drugs is estimated to be about $15,850.00.

- Nicholas Ames, 39, of East Machias. He's charged with class B trafficking in schedule W drugs (fentanyl). Ames is Tammy's son.
- Jermaine Henry, 33, of the Bronx, New York, who's charged with class B unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (fentanyl and cocaine base).

All four suspects were transported to the Washington County Jail for booking. Bail for both Henry and Howard was set at $50,000 cash while the bail amounts for both Davis and Ames are still to be set by the court.
Officials say this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
