The driver of a large truck was injured this morning in Carmel when he swerved to avoid a collision with a car and crashed into trees and a utility pole.

The truck was traveling on the Irish Road in Carmel this morning when the driver had to swerve to avoid a collision with a silver Impala that witnesses say was being driven by a woman and had crossed into his lane. The truck crashed into trees and knocked down a utility pole, which sparked a large fire. Witnesses say the driver of the sedan drove away and may not have noticed the accident.

Sarah Thayer, whose family owns Hermon Sand and Gravel told us the driver, who is also her uncle, sustained non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital. Police are working on locating the other driver.
