Lace up your walking shoes and get your social media thumbs ready for a great cause this weekend.

This Sunday, June 30th, join Health Equity Alliance for the Down East AIDS Walk in Ellsworth from 2 PM - 4 PM.

Last year, the Down East AIDS Walk took place in Bar Harbor but this year they'll be hitting the streets of Ellsworth.

The walk is organized to highlight the progress of HIV/AIDS research, treatment and prevention and celebrate the increased quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS.  Funds raised will go to the local non-profit Health Equity Alliance's HIV/AIDS programming.

Registration and warm up will be starting at 2 PM at the Ellsworth City Hall until 2:30 PM.  The walk will begin at 2:30 PM at City Hall and end around 3:30 PM at Fog Town Brewing.  At 4 PM, there will be awards, prizes and an after party featuring the band Beach Trash.

There is no fee to take part or minimum to raise to join in on the walk but you can sign up by starting a social fundraising page.

Keep up to date with this event by following the '2019 Down East AIDS Walk' event page on Facebook.
