UPDATE: After an elaborate in-character Twitter exchange, Matthew McConaughey just unveiled a brief teaser for The Dark Tower trailer coming to a computer or phone near you tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: Not to be outdone, Idris Elba responded with a teaser of his own:

ORIGINAL POST: If you read our summer movie preview yesterday you might have seen The Dark Tower on our list and thought, ‘Wait, what?! That’s coming out in August?’ Yes, your eyeballs will finally see the long awaited Stephen King adaptation in just three months, but the average moviegoer wouldn’t know it from the complete lack of marketing. We haven’t even seen a trailer yet, and last month the release was pushed back a week. But now, finally, we have officially confirmation of the trailer’s arrival.

Earlier this week we got reports that the first footage was set to drop in a matter of days, and this morning the official Facebook page for Columbia Pictures Philippines debuted three new motion posters announcing the trailer’s impending arrival. The new posters are less GIFs and more stills with subtle moving objects, but hey, we’ll take any marketing promo at this point! The first poster features Idris Elba’s Roland Deschain firing a pistol.

In the second, Matthew McConaughey’s Man in Black glances at the camera as if to dare you to believe the text inscribed above his head – will a trailer actually arrive tomorrow, as this piece of moving imagery promises?

And in the third, Tom Taylor’s Jake Chambers hangs out in a dilapidated playground, which feels a lot like the wasteland Columbia Pictures has left Dark Tower fans in as they’ve waited patiently to get a look at this damn movie.

Based on yesterday’s report, we can expect the first Dark Tower trailer to run a whole 2 minutes and 32 seconds. The adaptation from director Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) follows Elba’s gunslinger on a mission to reach the titular tower before the Man in Black. Here’s the full synopsis:

Jake Chambers is a young 11-year-old adventure seeker who discovers clues about another dimension called Mid-World. Upon following the mystery, he is spirited away to Mid-World where he encounters the lone frontiersman knight Roland Deschain, who is on a quest to reach the ‘Dark Tower’ that resides in End-World and reach the nexus point between time and space that he hopes will save Mid-World from extinction. But with various monsters and a vicious sorcerer named Walter Padick hot on their trail, the unlikely duo find that their quest may be difficult to complete.

If all goes according to plan, The Dark Tower will finally be hitting screens on August 4, 2017. Check back here tomorrow when (if?) the first footage of the film arrives.
