‘Dapper Wednesdays’ Are All The Rage At A Maine Elementary School
There are some pretty cool cats at a school in Chelsea.
It seems like the "Casual Friday" phenomenon has become the norm over the last several years, especially in the work place, but when it comes to school kids, it went to another level.
I remember my school days, when my mom would take me 'Back To School' shopping, because she wanted to make sure I dressed well, when I went to class each day, Nowadays, you see a lot more kids rocking wind pants and hoodies, something my mother would have never let me do back in the day, but hey, that was a long time ago. Things change.
Two third-grade boys at the Chelsea Elementary School named James Ramage, and his buddy, Lincoln Bolitho, came up with a pretty spiffy idea, which involves getting dressed to the nines, each and every "Dapper Wednesday."
My first thought was "Hey! it's a school aged Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau", from the 90's classic movie, "Swingers"
Chelsea Elementary School is a pretty small public school, with a student population of about 279, but now on Wednesdays, it has become so much more than just a typical day in the classroom.
Who ever thought you would see students in suits and bow ties, that wouldn't be out of place in the roaring 1920s? Very cool.
Principal Alison Hernandez, says that each 'Dapper Wednesday", more and more kids are joining in on the fun! That fun is also starting to catch on around the country.
The "Dapper Wednesday" kiddos have been featured a few times on TV recently, too!
