The U.S. Coast Guard came to the rescue of a boat and it's crew around 12 noon yesterday near Bear Island, off the coast of Northeast Harbor.

The crew of the 28 foot fishing vessel Jamie Dodger called for help Saturday when the boat hit a submerged object and began taking on water. Station Southwest Harbor dispatched a 47 foot boat and crew to tow the Jamie Dodger into Somes Sound for repair.  Pumps aboard the Jamie Dodger prevented it from sinking.

The Coast Guard reported that there were no injuries.
