China Garden Restaurant To Reopen In Old Burger King Building
The Orono Burger King has been sitting vacant along Stillwater Avenue since it closed at the end of 2020, with a handful of other area Burger King franchises owned by Steve Wegner.
The properties went to auction in March of 2021. All of the contents of each restaurant were to go with the sale.
It seems the old building will soon see some new life, as another local business prepares to set up shop in that location.
China Garden has been located in the University Mall on Stillwater Avenue since it opened in 1990.
It closed down 2 weeks ago, but customers don't have to worry, as the closure was temporary and necessary for owner Christine Chou to move the entire restaurant to a new, not-so-far-away spot; the old Burger King building right across the parking lot.
According to the China Garden Facebook Page, the restaurant closed May 15th to accommodate the move.
"We are temporary closed to process moving to a new location. The new address is the former Burger King building. Estimate two weeks can be reopened. Thank you all my customers have been loved my food,I will keep going to provide more delicious and healthy dishes for you. See you over there."
The response to the announcement of the move online has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their excitement and well wishes in the comment section.
"Oh wow that’s awesome and a bigger building and should make a nice spacious dining area."
"This is awesome. So excited for you. Looking forward to having your delicious food in a new place."
"Looking forward to your new location! We hope your move goes smoothly!"
"We’re so excited for you! Congrats on the move, see you in a few weeks."
Management for China Garden says they hope to have the new location open by the beginning of June.
